About the Ecuadorian Student Association at UBC
DNA

The Ecuadorian Student Association at UBC is a group of Ecuadorian and international students who are thrilled about enhancing the scholar experience by sharing and getting in touch with the Ecuadorian culture. We do so by organizing fun cultural events where we share traditional food, music and more folklore about our beautiful country of origin, Ecuador.

We invite you to be part of the ESA and learn more about this stunning country with magnificent natural landscapes, friendly people and timeless culture.

The Story

The Club was an initiative created by Angelica Medina after the earthquake that occurred in Ecuador in 2016. Since that moment Angelica, with the help of other Ecuadorian friends, decided to create a space where Ecuadorian students could get together and help each other within the UBC community and raise funding to support the victims of the earthquake. Later on the project evolved and it became an official AMS Club.

We have organized a variety of events where we share part of our culture. Some of these were: "Pachamama" a cultural event, Latin Party, Karaoke night, Ecuafilx & Chill, among others.

The ESA community keeps growing every year, and we are excited to welcome more members in the upcoming academic years.
